The breathtaking panorama of Brisbane City and it's surrounds greets you as you step onto the observation deck. By day, you can see the sun shining over Brisbane, out to Moreton Bay and by night, a fairyland of glittering lights and starlit sky surrounds you. Interpretive facilities, a wishing waterfall and beautifully manicured gardens further enhance the complex and blend harmoniously with the surrounding native bushland.
Adjacent to the lookout is the popular Kuta Cafe and Gift Shop offering informal dining, light refreshments, ice cream kiosk and a great range of gifts and souvenirs. For those looking for something more substantial the award winning Summit Restaurant is right next door. Special occasions Functions and Weddings are well catered for in the Summit Restaurant or the purpose built Fountain View Function Room, which is also ideal for business meetings and seminars.
The lookout has been a favourite destination for both residents and visitors to Brisbane since before the turn of the century. Brisbane and Mt Coot-tha have both undergone great changes since then, and each new day brings a new dimension to this popular attraction.
In 1880, One Tree Hill, as Mt Coot-tha was then known, together with the surrounding area of 1500 acres, was declared a reserve for public recreation. Since that time the area has had a fascinating history and has grown to become an important part of Brisbane's cultural heritage.
Mt Coot-tha has always been more than just a view. Since the early days food and refreshments have played an important role particularly when people made their way by foot or horseback. Today there is no end of ways to make your journey to Mt Coot-tha and when you arrive there is an equally endless array of refreshments to enjoy.
